The captain's official game account:

Saint Croix’s defeat the Shakopee Brick Layers

The Saint Croix Base Ball Club played a match against the Shakopee picked nine at Murphy’s Landing on Sunday June 18th under partly cloudy sky’s and in front of many cranks visiting the Landing that afternoon.

The match started promptly at 2 pm with many members of the crowd wanting to help the local nine. This caused for some unusual alignments in the infield and outfield with members numbering several more than the usual nine.

The St. Croix’s, undaunted by this defense took this as a challenge. After several close innings of play and good defense played on both sides, the St. Croix’s strikers finally were able to catch up with the pitching of the Shakopee hurler. In the fourth inning, the St. Croix’s scored four tallies with the first four strikers all coming around to home base. The next inning another five tallies were made, giving the St. Croix’s nine aces in total.

After their sixth, the Shakopee nine dispersed and the match had ended with the final score of nine aces for the St. Croix’s and none for the Shakopee Brick Layers.

Scoring for the St. Croix’s were Mr. Cagley, Mr. Ebnet and Mr. Hammer with two aces apiece and Mr. Pfundstein, Mr. Larsen and Ms. Kadish all tallying one ace each. Appearing for the first time this season for the St. Croix’s Mr. Petra and young Lawrence, known to all as “Mini-P.”
