Denmark Township - September 9, 2007
The captain's official game account:
St. Croix's defeat the Denmark Demons 12 to 2
The St. Croix Base Ball Club traveled not too far from their home field to cross bats with the Denmark Demons at the Denmark Township Hall.
This match had the St. Croix's on their toes trying to keep the hard hitting Demons from hitting sky-balls over the fielder's heads.
The St. Croix's were sent to bat first and tallied three times on some timely hitting from the strikers. The Demon's improved defense did not allow the St. Croix's to tally any aces in either their second or third innings. In the fourth inning, the St. Croix's started hitting the ball into unguarded areas of the field and were able to tally six times even though the Demon defense was strong. The St. Croix's added two more aces in their fifth and tallied only once more, that in their ninth.
The Denmark club has strong hitters and had base runners most every inning. The Demons tallied twice in their fourth, but were not able to cross home plate again during the match.
The final score of the match was the St. Croix Base Ball Club 12 aces and the Denmark Demons 2 aces. The match was umpired by Mr. Robert Tholkes of Columbia Heights.
For the St. Croix's, Mr. Sjogren tallied three aces; Mr. Wittrock, Mr. WIlliams, Mr. Cagley and Mr. Ernst all tallied twice. Mr. Ebnet accounted for the final tally for the St. Croix's.
